Puttur: A sit-in protest was held at the Puttur taluk administration building on Monday on behalf of the Karnataka State Ambedkar Defense Forum, demanding that the road leading to the Dalit family was blocked and the road should be arranged immediately.
Speaking at the protest, Ambedkar Defense Forum State President P. Sundar Pataje A private person has blocked the road leading to the house of four Dalit families at Kudkoli in Kemminje.
Jayalatha Rai, a local, blocked the road on the government land leading to the house of 4 Dalit families in this area.
Also, around 25 nut trees planted by Dalits have been cut down and destroyed. He demanded that legal action should be taken against him.
This road was used by Dalit families to go home for about 40 years.
Jayalatha Rai, who has recently allotted the government land here under an illegal scheme, has done injustice by blocking the way. They expressed outrage that we will not stop the protest until the Tehsildar reaches the spot and conducts an inspection.
Later, as per the request of Dali protestors, Tehsildar arrived at the place and conducted an inspection. He said that he will measure the space and take action regarding the road. The sit-in was called off temporarily on the back of a promise made by the tehsildar.
Ambedkar Defense Forum district president Parameshwar, leaders Sheenappa, Krishnappa, Sesappa, Taniappa, Rama, Anurada, Lalitha, Sunanda, Ratna were present in the protest.
