Puttur: Pouring water is not the solution to all types of fire disasters. Puttur Fire Station Officer Sundar said that instead, different types of prevention methods should be followed.
He was speaking at a fire safety awareness program organized at Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology, Puttur.
Fire can be caused by grass, wood, oil, gas, electricity and other sources. According to the situation, water, water mixed with foam and other fire extinguishers should be used to eliminate it, he said, sometimes traditional methods are also used. He said that when fire accidents occur, immediate action should be taken to eliminate the problem.
Various fire fighting methods were shown through demonstration. Students also learned the methods by doing it themselves.
